Dr. David A. Soto-Quijano is a board-certified physiatrist with subspecialty certification in Sports Medicine and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. He serves as Program Director of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency at the VA Caribbean Healthcare System and holds associate and assistant professor appointments at several medical schools in Puerto Rico.
A graduate of the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, Dr. Soto-Quijano completed his residency at UPR and a fellowship in Musculoskeletal and Sports Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. He is also a registered musculoskeletal sonographer and a certified Nike NG360 Golf Performance Specialist.
With over two decades of academic, clinical, and sports medicine experience, he has served as the head team physician for Puerto Rico’s Women’s National Basketball Team at multiple FIBA tournaments and the Olympics, as well as for men’s U17 and U19 national teams. He is an active member and leader in numerous professional organizations and has delivered lectures across topics in regenerative medicine, musculoskeletal health, and athlete care.
Dr. Soto-Quijano has published in top journals, including Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Clinics of North America, and continues to be a leading advocate for advancing physiatric education and sports medicine in the Caribbean.
